How to Interpret the Result

Bounce rate is a deliverability and list-quality signal, not the same metric as website or GA4 bounce rate. Separate hard and soft failures, review the provider-reported reason, and treat the optional target as a monitoring reference rather than a universal rule. In this calculator, delivery rate equals 100% minus bounce rate because the model assumes the same sent-email scope for hard and soft bounces.

Email Bounce Rate Calculator Frequently Asked Questions

Add hard and soft bounces, divide by emails sent, and multiply by 100.
A hard bounce generally represents a permanent delivery failure, such as an invalid or unavailable recipient address.
A soft bounce generally represents a temporary delivery problem, such as a mailbox or technical condition that may later change.
In this simplified sent-versus-bounced model, delivery rate equals 100% minus bounce rate.
Lower is better. As one current provider reference, Klaviyo labels bounce rates below 1% healthy, but use your own provider guidance, list source and sender history when setting a monitoring threshold.

Move between engagement, deliverability, conversion and financial-return metrics without mixing their definitions.
